Praise

“As a transplanted but proud Nebraskan teaching in a Political Science Department, I devoured The Curse of the Aztec Dummy with enthusiasm. Very few novels could pull this off, weaving small town American culture with Aztec history and petty academic politics.  This absurdist tale reminds the reader of how wildly diverse, if not downright random, small town America can be.  Western Uptown, Nebraska, may not exist, but this hilarious read is about Americans―if not all people―trying desperately to create meaning and history. It will entertain readers everywhere, not because it focuses on the great state of Nebraska ―the best place to live in America―but because it is downright funny.”

―Patrice McMahon, University of Nebraska

“How to bind together, in a smart and funny plot, a deranged university professor, a mob gangster, a talking washing machine and an Aztec dummy? Find out in the new, swiftly paced and uplifting humorous novel by Sabrina Ramet, with an intriguing title and a lineup of characters set in Nebraska who will make you laugh out loud, especially if you are dwelling in, or near, the academia. After her first novel Café Bombshell: The International Brain Surgery Conspiracy, Professor Ramet, a recipient of an Outstanding Academic Book award by Choice magazine, was obviously having a lot of fun in creating another delightful, entertaining read. This is an energetic, vibrant story with silly, yet well-executed characters and plot twists. A book that will definitely appeal to your sophisticated sense of humor and refined irony.”
